The Working Interview: Hire Smart with Agility Testing for Job Applicants

Have you ever wished that you could watch a job applicant actually perform the tasks you're hiring for as part of your interview process? If so, join us to learn how to do it in a safe and legally-compliant manner and at a fraction of the cost of outsourced employment testing services. ADA and EEOC guidance states clearly the guardrails within which employers can develop accurate, valid and job-specific demonstrations of essential job functions. After learning these essentials, watch the process unfold as we share a practical example from heavy industry - moving from physical demands analysis to a turn-key testing program - all backed by an attorney white paper. This interactive, real-world demonstration is presented by two key allies of the safety profession: an Occupational Therapist with over 20 years of experience evaluating job demands and building functional job testing, and a Workers' Compensation attorney with 43 years of experience as an attorney in matters relating to workers' compensation and employment law.

Learning Objectives:
1. Understand the compliance guardrails which constrain testing of Applicants during an interview;
2. Watch a stepwise and practical example of a Working Interview being built for heavy industry - from job analysis, to test development and implementation; and
3. Learn how employers can (and should) take the lead within their organizations and for their clients, catalyzing a cross-functional effort to Hire Smart: On-Premises, On-Demand and On-Time.

Speakers

Dona Leonard, Occupational Therapist / Owner NEWork Enterprises, MS OT CEASII

Dona has over 20 years' experience as an occupational therapist working directly with employers to develop quantified, meaningful physical demands descriptions of essential job functions. As Director of an Industrial Health program at a Northern Colorado outpatient clinic, she developed job-specific testing for domestic and international employers doing business locally. Her passion for injury prevention took her out of the clinic to build her own business, and she continues to provide ergonomics surveillance and risk reduction for organizations small and large. Responding to Colorado's unique workers' compensation law, she assists occupational physicians with determining medical causation through job analysis.
